CONGRESS OF THE SPANISH SOCIETY OF FERTILITY: Valencia in May 2010

These are the jobs that FivMadrid presented at the conference:

-1 -
THE INDUCTION OF OVULATION WITH GnRH agonist prevents the development of Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome, REGARDLESS OF SERUM ESTRADIOL LEVELS
Authors: JL Gomez Palomares, Andrew Criado L, Acevedo Martin B, Chavez M, Manzanares MA, Romero R, Ricciarelli E, Hernandez ER.

This study is a pioneer in demonstrating that if at the end of the cycle of stimulation is administered GnRH analog instead of HCG, overstimulation does not happen and besides, this is independent of hormone levels.

-2 -

incidence of congenital malformations in children born AFTER triptorelin final oocyte maturation in cycles of oocyte donation.
Authors: Gomez Palomares JL, Sanchez M, Acevedo-Martin B, Chavez M, Manzanares MA, Romero R, Hernandez ER, Ricciarelli E.

This study has found that the incidence of malformations in newborns of oocyte donation cycles in which ovulation was induced with GnRHa, it implies an additional risk compared to other assisted reproductive treatments and also the percentage of children with birth defects is similar to that of the general population.

-3 -
IMPACT ON PREGNANCY RATES OF TUBAL FACTOR IN PATIENTS SUBJECTED TO UNILATERAL intrauterine insemination.
Authors: Manzanares MA, Gomez Palomares JL, Acevedo-Martin B, Chavez M, Romero R, Cuadros J, Hernandez ER, Ricciarelli E.
The patients who are offered the IAC with a single horn functioning should be informed of the lower success rate of this technique, and on this basis, to decide whether they are worth making, or better to opt for other treatments which have higher chances of pregnancy

-4 -
EMBRYO FREEZING AND AGONIST

: a safe and effective in patients with polycystic ovaries.
Manzanares MA, Gomez Palomares JL, Acevedo-Martin B, Chavez M, Romero R, Nieto M, Ricciarelli E, Hernandez ER.

induction of ovulation with GnRH agonists followed by embryo freezing, allows patients with polycystic ovary complete IVF cycle without risk of cancellation, coasting or hyperstimulation syndrome by maintaining good pregnancy rate.

COMPARISON OF THE PREGNANCY RATES IN PATIENTS WITH MALE FACTOR FOR SELECTED IMSI: PRELIMINARY STUDY.
Authors: Marta Sánchez de Burgos, JM Cuadros Fernandez, Mark Nieto Sanchez Andres Lara, Eleuterio R. Hernández

The IMSI (morphologically selected sperm injection) is a relatively new technique that allows the selection of sperm with good morphology an increase of 6500 X, instead of 400 x as with ICSI. With this increase we are able to select and sort sperm according to the absence or presence of vacuoles. This preliminary study conducted in 2009 appears to exist in selected patients IMSI higher pregnancy rate but without significant differences.

EFFECT OF AGE OF WOMEN IN THE EMBRYO TRANSFER
Authors: Mark Nieto Sanchez, Jorge Cuadros, Marta Sánchez de Burgos; Lara Andrés Criado, Eleuterio R. Hernández. Elisabetta Ricciarelli

gestational success of the selective transfer of a single embryo (SET) is based on morphological selection of embryos with greater potential for implementation. This study analyzed pregnancy rates in women older than 38 years who were transferred embryos of the highest quality
. Pregnancy rates were lower in women over 38 years despite the apparent high quality of the embryo. We conclude that the implementation of SET in everyday clinical practice entails considering the age of the woman as the potential implantatory of embryos does not reflect embryo quality in women in that age group.

MULTICENTER STUDY ON THE PREVALENCE OF SYMPTOMS OF ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION IN PARTNERSHIP TO LAUNCH FIRST CYCLE OF ASSISTED REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES IN VITRO FERTILIZATION (IVF)
Authors: Agustin Moreno (Galileo Psychologists, Malaga), Vicente Gimenez (GH. Chiron, San Sebastian), Giuliana Baccino (FIVMadrid, Madrid), Montserrat Roca (GH. Chiron, Barcelona)

The aim of this study was to determine the incidence of prevalence of symptoms of anxiety or depression in couples first start a cycle of assisted reproduction using IVF.
Among the patients under study was observed a high prevalence rate of anxiety symptoms, 34%, and a much although less elevated mood symptoms, 14%. These high prevalence are in line with those obtained in previous studies and highlight the need for specific interventions before and during assisted reproduction treatment.

Book: "Captives of a Concept", in Spanish

We are pleased to offer our readers the English version of the book "Captives of a Concept" ( Captives of a Concept ) written by Don Cameron, a former member of a Body of Elders of Jehovah's Witnesses.

The cover of the book we find the risky sentence
"There's only one thing that needs to be known about
Watchtower Society and have no way of knowing. "

Which could not be more accurate. The book uses an overwhelming logic, since place to discuss and examine various doctrines of this organization, goes straight to the 'keystone' of the same using their own literature of this religion.

Having identified the "stone" that can be removed by
(1) understand the Watchtower Society's interpretation of Matthew 24:45-47 and (2) keep in mind that interpretation while examining the history of this organization in regard to their own interpretation of this passage from the Bible.

is hoped that this book will help first, to better understand the illusionary concept that holds them captive Jehovah's Witnesses, secondly, how this concept remains just as captive to leaders this organization, making them unable to face the reality of their own religion and thirdly, to understand better why it is so difficult for witnesses not only face the reality of their organization, but also the that this reality compels them make decisions that change their lives. The reach that understanding and those subsequent decisions it may take some time and often require divine intervention, however:
"Those who are ready to meet reality,
this will force them to make decisions that change their lives. "

If you have family or friends who are Jehovah's Witnesses and want to help "meet the reality" (or even if you want to be prepared when they come to visit), this book is for you.

Features translation:
  • has undergone a translation as faithful to the original, maintaining accuracy and consistency in the statements made in English and respecting citations of publications.
