The world is a handkerchief, and I suppose that the most travel is smaller, but that does not mean that small coincidences continue to amaze me. Here's the latest ... Marc, my new co-worker and adventure has led me to watch the match Brazil - Holland with a Syrian friend and an acquaintance of it. Turns out they both worked at the Syrian embassy in Abu Dhabi .... in the visa section .... and were there in 2008. So were they, in particular Marc's friend who gave me the visa, your signature and seal are in my passport, so there is no doubt. He says he has recognized me as I have seen, I do not know if this is true but the fact is that two of them are familiar to me. The
game was exciting. I never thought I would be so much atmosphere! Hundreds of people in a room with at least ten plasma screens, people with shirts of the two teams ... crazy very European, but in Syria! I loved it, made me forget that I'm away, and especially has allowed me to realize that this country has a special charm.
Few girls have their hair covered and most European look, dressed like us, skirts, dresses, tank tops, jeans, sandals. Yes, we gain in beauty, makeup and hairstyles are good and very beautiful! I felt bad for going like being at home, but now I know.
After the game we walked around the mall, where most shops are international brands, dresses, bikinis, miniskirts in the windows. I have not seen a veil in stores.
Ghana's match against Uruguay we have seen in the most chic cocktail terrace of Damascus. Here drink alcohol most of the world, and Westerners who seem surprised me again.
There is NO girl with veil in her hair. Also, tonight is a night of salsa, and how to dance! Move your hips like Shakira, neither more nor less. Dance them equally well to them, and I prefer to sit and admire, while we have the game background. Nobody pays attention to the big screen until they get penalties. Then the party scene above is repeated, the terrace is divided between fans of a team, and another. Some applauded, some booed. Uruguay wins, most seem to prefer to Ghana, but nothing happens, the night continues, music and dance not to either.
If every day look like today, I'll be happy here. Just missing the family and Mr. A, but with me through these lines, skype and webcam.
Goodnight.
